Narissa had walked over to her sister's bunk, she had already brushed her hair one hundred strokes, but she could not sleep. She was dressed in a long sleeping gown, light slippers, and came up ever so silently, "Sister, are you awake?"
She knew it was late, most of their fellow weyrlings were tucked away in their bunks, but she always felt better after she talked to Arli. "Arli, are you sleeping?"
Narissa had thought she left Terath safetly snuggled and sleeping a little ways away in their barracks, but toddling around her came a little gold, Mine! Where are you going? Why do you leave poor Terath behind! I am too pretty to be forgotten! She whined, and stumbled into Narissa, causing the young woman to fall.

Arli heard a voice penetrate her dreams but for a few brief moments could not being herself to open her eyes. Then she heard her name being called softly and recognized her sister’s voice.
Slowly she rose from her cot and sat up, looking at her sister. “Yeah, I’m up. What is it Narissa?” She asked softly. Had it been someone else other than her sister she probably wouldn’t have been calm about being woken up, unless of course it was the Weyrling Master calling them to get up for class.
“Are you okay?” She asked as she watched her sister to fall, and offered to help her up. Normally she would have reacted quicker and would have tried to catch her, but her mind was still slightly sleepy, causing her actions to seem slightly delayed.
Xenath was sleeping nearby and was alert to someone else in her room and awoke with a start, her eyes swirling orangish red in alarm until she realized who it was. Terath why do you and yours come to visit so late at night? She asked curiously with a soft croon.

Narissa rubbed her chin and straightened herself up, softly, a little pained, "Perfectly."
The antique-gold queen toddled over to her sister mumbling a most sincere apology, Mine, oh Mine, I am so sorry. It is so dark and I was worried so!
Narissa sat at the end of Arli's bed. "It's just that I am worried, about many things. Everything has happened so quickly. I just don't have time to think anymore. I'll bet things will be much smoother when our queens are grown. I just..."

Arli listened to her sister, aware that her worries were much like her own. Right now she was worried that she would do something wrong and then something would happen to Xenath because of her. She was also worried that Southern would eventually carry out there threats and kidnap them.
“Go on Narissa.” She encouraged softly. Arli wanted to be there for her despite her own fears.
Xenath stood where she was looking from her queen sister to the two young riders. She felt the fear from her own rider and her eyes whirled a pinkly worried color that glowed softly in the darkness.

"I some times worry that we will be split up. It wouldn't be so bad once our queens are grown and all, like I've said, but right now we are so vulnerable, and that's what scares me, Arli." She too had been worried about Southern. Not so much the daunting task of ruling a Weyr, which in itself right now was enough just helping her sister, but what frightened her the most was to be commanded around by people she could never respect. She shivered as an invisible hand grasped at her, and she forced her overactive imagination at bay. "What are we going to do to protect ourselves, I need to feel secure."
Southern's threats were just that-threats, and there would be great difficulty trying to steal away a young queen. If they were smarter, they would have tried to steal a queen egg instead of a hatched one. So she knew it was slim to none that she would be stolen. I admit that I am very pretty, Mine, but I would never let them take you. Not away from our home. I'll bite them if I have to.

“I’ve worried about that too Narissa, but don’t worry I won’t let that happen and neither will anyone else.” She said with all the reassurance she could muster. Arli knew that her sister had appoint right now about them being venerable. With there queens as such a young age anything could go wrong or so she thought. She had sometimes had dreams of being taken by a Southern Rider and she knew that a Weyrling couldn’t and most likely wouldn’t be separated from there young dragon so the dragon would have to come with them. That was how she feared Southern would carry out there plans.
“I don’t know what we do to protect ourselves except to stay within the safe limits of the Weyr and only leave if we are with another rider I guess.” Arli told her with a small sigh. She hated not being able to answer her sister’s question. Other than that she couldn’t think of anything else to do. “I know we need to feel secure and that it’s bad when you don’t feel that way within your own Weyr, but I guess the best thing to do is too be cautious and not to be too trusting towards a rider we don’t know. Especially a brown or bronze rider because I think those dragons would be the only one big enough and willing enough to take a young queen from her Weyr if there rider told them too.”
Xenath crooned softly and got up and wandered over to Arli and wrapped her tail around her. Terath and I are queens. All dragons listen to us. She said calmly with a slight hint of dominance in her voice that suggested that any dragon who did not listen she would make listen. Thank you Xenath. Arli mentally replied, feeling reassured by the young queen’s protectiveness.
Before she had not considered the fact there wasn’t a dragon alive that would disobey a queen, but part of her thought a Southern dragon would if they were desperate enough. “Xenath says that all dragons will listen to her and Terath otherwise she will make them and is confident that not even a Southern Dragon would lay a claw on us if they said not too.” She told her sister calmly.

"It is foolish of me to be afraid." She said shaking her head, becoming less and less frightened and more fierce looking, "I know what I must do. You must also be weary of the riders. I feel that we will have trials and we must be strong." If she had to be distant from people to protect her sister, and not to mention herself, she would. Narissa would check her drinks to make sure that she was not being drugged, and she would deal with older brown and bronzeriders with cool politness and nothing more. "I appreciate your advice, Sister." Xenath is right. We are the golden ones. No one would dare go against a queen. You are very confident Yes, I am. The gold said matter of factly, nuzzling her rider's leg.

“It is not foolish to be afraid Narissa.” Arli said softly. She knew that she would take her own advice as well because it was not only her sister that could be in danger, but herself as well. “Don’t worry I will take the same precautions.” She promised and smiled softly. “Anytime.” Arli replied in a soft voice that was close to a whisper. Xenath yawned, showing of her rows of white teeth and then stretched out her wings slightly and admired them. I wish too fly and take you somewhere right now. Xenath told Arli, eager to do something now that she was wide awake. Your still too young and it’s too late. Maybe we can do something tomorrow, depending on what the Weyrling Master has planned. Arli told her and then glanced at her sister and her queen.

"I would suggest you do, dear sister," And the young queenrider stood. Her hands were clutched into fists at ther sides, "I have some things to think about, son now I leave you, Arli. Don't worry, I'll take care of both of us. You just worry about Xenath." It was implied that Terath was included, however it went unspoken. She started to walk back to her bed. She had things to plan, but she needed some sleep. "Come along, my darling,"
Terath touched her nose to Xenath, and then toddled after Hers. I come, Mine.

“Okay Narissa,” she replied with a gentle smile. Arli too had some thinking to do about everything that was going on. “Thank you, but you don’t have to do all the work of watching out for use both. Just keep yourself and Terath safe.” She replied to her, not wanting her to feel like she had to protect them both.
Xenath crooned to Terath and watched the pair before looking to hers. She was silent but her presence was reassuring to Arli.
